Dunes Creek Permeating Shelf Ice

Alex C Zaideman Photography » Shop » Landscapes » Dunes Creek Permeating Shelf Ice

Always an exciting and unique occurrence. The shelf ice along Lake Michigan coast remains mostly solid during the frigid month of January. But the Indiana Dunes State Park's Dunes Creek pushes warmer, turbulent water beneath the ice that weaken and warm it to create these amazing semi-liquid oases. However, these symbolize highly volatile ice and should be considered especially dangerous areas for treading. The blue here comes by photographing in the moments after sunset as the dusk turns all things white to blue.

This 14x11 print comes signed, matted and sealed in plastic for easy gifting or later framing.
